THE WATERFRONT – BUSY AND ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL
The Santa Barbara Waterfront stretches a pristine 3.6 miles from Shoreline Park to the Bird Refuge that borders the beautiful Santa Barbara Zoo. Cabrillo Boulevard is the main thoroughfare that lines this iconic stretch of sandy beach, offering unobstructed coastal views and easy access to endless forms of enjoyment, exploration, and just pure fun!
Starting at Shoreline Park on the bluffs, this pet-friendly park is also an excellent spot to picnic, watch surfers off Ledbetter Beach, or let the kids play at the playground. Classic beach bungalows, hillside condominiums, and luxury homes line the opposite side of Shoreline Drive and Cabrillo Boulevard leaving the ocean side of the street open for walking, strolling, biking and rollerblading all along the boardwalk. Fresh, tasty seafood draws visitors and locals alike to The Harbor, where the daily catch is brought in regularly by local fisherman, and served up at casual eateries. Stearn’s Wharf with a tourist-friendly vibe offers souvenir shops, ice cream, wine tasting and The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center.
Near West Beach, the neighborhood streets meander past adorable cottages, low-rise apartments, vacation rentals, and boutique hotels making this a lovely area to walk, explore, or check in and stay for awhile! East Beach is packed with plenty of volleyball courts, and always busy with year-round activity, including AVP Pro Volleyball tournaments attracting world-class players to paradise. On any given Sunday explore the colorful Arts and Crafts Fair along the waterfront.
The nearby Funk Zone is the trendy hot spot just off the waterfront area, east of State Street, offering an eclectic maze of wine and beer tasting rooms, shops, unique eateries, and lively nightlife.
